Baby Krishna's Bath
I mix saffron in water from the river Jamuna
And prepare to bathe You my Shri Krishna.
Let me massage and caress Your dark-dark limbs
And let me pamper You Shri Krishna! . . . . . . . . . . . .
With soft towels, I aim, to dry You with loving care.
See this yellow dhoti of silk so fair.
Let me comb Your curly-curly locks of hair
And let me oil them with perfumes rare! . . . . . . . . . . . .
With red ointment on Your forehead, let me paint with glee
Making now a tilak for all to see.
Your playful sparkling eyes are very lovely
And with this black lotion handsome be . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Happily I laugh and talk when I am close to You.
You can see how I dance with rhythm too.
I place small dots daintly upon Your cheeks,
So that all ill feelings not harm You . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
On Your ankles and Your arms hear the bracelets jingling,
When You walk You can listen to them sing.
My mind and my heart dance visualizing
You With Your flowered garland and earrings! . . . . . . . . . . .
See this peacock-feathered crown placed upon Your head so grand
And this bamboo flute I put in Your hand.
The fire of devotion burned all lust away.
