Across the Mind

At the break of dawn the Saints arise to practice yoga!

The mind is like an ocean and the Lord is on the far bank!

Please come! Oh true Guru, my boat's captain . . . . . . . . . . .

Billions of lifetimes I've wasted on this very bank:

And to be at Your feet, I gave no thought.

Sorrow and restlessness are burning in my heart!

To get to the other shore, I have not sought . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A foreigner to Your land, a native of the soft life,

A fondness of the worldly ways in my vision.

It is like some bandits have robbed all of my self-control!

Each and every cell cries out for passion . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The Saint is the true native of the far bank of this ocean.

Pure joy is the treasure there: no sorrow.

There is a guard perched on the shore of this vast sea!

And he sees anger and lust as very low . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The shield of good action and the spear of devotion,

And the sword of knowledge, Lord, I will wear.

"Kripalu" I offer my love at Your holy feet!

Destroy all my enemies: my life repair . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
