Yashoda/Krishna: Perhaps the most important aspect of the feminine/goddess is that of Motherhood. Our Mothers are our first gurus. They take care of us with unconditional love. Our Mothers bathe and feed us and even change our dirty diapers. If they could, they would absorb all our hurts and pains out of their pure love. No matter how tired, they carried us around when we were too young to walk. Is this not all true? We absorb their thoughts while we are in the womb and they are our first contact with the outside world.
Krishna is the embodiment of love and bliss, so Leela wanted a representation of his energy on Power of Love Temple. Devaki was Krishna's birth mother but he was raised by Yashoda. Yashoda was indeed his mother, just as all women who adopt children are also true mothers. Krishna was very playful and Leela wanted that energy to be infused into the temple.
